Who are those movie stars with Abraham Lincoln? It was Lincoln who said:

Kono-sensei mentioned Alcatraz and his strange connection to the location. A black and white movie he saw in his childhood had a very strong impact on him, although he did not remember the title of the movie. The movie was about a prisoner in Alcatraz whose circumstances evoked a strong sense of grief and rage in Kono-sensei as a child. Surprisingly, more than 40 years later, he found a book with a scene from the movie on its cover on Alcatraz while on this trip. The title was Birdman of Alcatraz. Toyama-sensei wrote about their courtesy visit to the mayor of Sacramento. Sacramento and Matsuyama city are sister cities, and this year marks their 25th anniversary. He wrote that, in a way, he owes who he is today to Sacramento. 21 years ago, when he was in middle school, he had an opportunity to go to Sacramento as a junior high school ambassador of Matsuyama city. Because of that experience, he decided to learn English and became an English teacher. Also, he was able to reunite with, Ninomiya-san, whom he had met in his visit 21 years ago. It was a great experience to return to his original starting point.

Well, I tried (and failed) to decode the text, but those photographs sure bring back fond memories of our adventures together with the 2006 MTP Let's do some skype together real soon. I'll make an effort to be on the computer at 9:00pm for the next few nights. let me know if another time slot is better. Cheers, Jim
